2009 Special Libraries Association Student Travel StipendEvery year, the Boston Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) offers a travel stipend of up to $1,800 to a current student in library and information science to enable the student to attend the 2009 Annual SLA Conference. Read the details about applying for the Stipend Award on the Stipend Applications page. This year, we are pleased to announce that our winner is Molly Caple. Molly just graduated from the Simmons GSLIS program. She has a strong background in the legal research field, which includes experience with the Social Law Library and Seyfarth Shaw LLP's Boston office, and plans a career in law librarianship. You can read Molly's winning essay here. This year's conference is particularly notable as we celebrate the Association's Centennial and our Opening Speaker is former Secretary of State Colin Powell (http://www.sla.org/centennial/). The conference will take place in at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. 14-17 June 2009 and the theme is "Information to Inspiration: Knowledge & Vision Shaping the Future." Current students: plan ahead for next year's Annual Conference in New Orleans! Watch this space and the SLA Boston listserv for the announcement in the fall.
