The big event in the future is the Centennial Celebration in June '09. The mid-year Leadership Summit in January '09 will be a good time to test and seek feedback on our work. That said, we need to gather ideas, requirements and then plan for that event.
A few things I've heard so far are:
- Signs that link to SL training
- Where should the teleport locatation be set? In the building by the door? Outside near an information kiosk?
- Seating areas? Can we add a box with rows of chairs for "instant" lecture space? Do we need to add seating in front of the video areas?
- A regular "sandbox hour" with our mentor developer. Perhaps monthly?
- Dance hall. Stacey I think you said UK has something to share.
- Using the tiles on the floor of the building to link to "LC Classifications" of other SL suggested sites.
- Statistics of use. We should be able to see how many folks investigate and are there any trends.
- Surveys in various locations. Seek feedback.
- Changing room in the sky grass.
- SLA t-shirt.
- more thoughts later......
Please let me know if you agree with these ideas, and if you are willing to take on the development task.
And please share additional ideas.

I particularly like the dressing room, since I've inadvertently flashed a few avatars when a wardrobe switch went awry and an avi unexpectedly showed up. Could we try to set up an inworld meeting for as many of the entire Workgroup as could make it? I think it would be helpful to try out a meeting or conference with us as the guineapigs. Perhaps Steve Abrahms could 'pop' in for a minute and say a few words.
Or we could ask someone from the Centennial Planning Commission to have a 'virtual' meeting highlighting some of the plans for next annual conference?
Could we get the candidates canned speeches to project from SL? Maybe we could schedule a virtual meeting to listen to the candidates? Wonder how many of them have avis and would volunteer to speak to an In World audience.
Great progress by all. And its sad how often I wander by the building yet so seldom see anyone else around. (Unless of course my wardrobe is not co-operating.)

I agree with Pat that a changing room would be a nice feature. What about a small gift shop area for freebies? My avi recently attended a 2-day symposium on the NMC Conference Campus, where they had a small gift shop full of conference-related freebies.
We could offer what we create (like an SLA t-shirt) or what we can freely copy as gift inventory. Some freebies could be objects with links to past conference presentations, newsletters, or materials from various chapters, divisions, and caucuses (although the floor tile idea might work for this, too).
As for the teleport location, outside the main door between the orange trees looks like a nice place. There's plenty of room there for signage and kiosks, too.
I spend (too) much time inworld and am starting to learn how to build and create. Looking forward to collaborating!
