 h2. Mission Statement

The SLA Second Life Workgroup is one of several new technology initiatives launched by SLA President, Stephen Abram. The mission of the group is to facilitate SLA members' learning about and exploring SL as part of SLA's overall initiative to have members more involved in social networking tools including virtual worlds. The workgroup will:
 * Spread the word about [Second Life|http://secondlife.com], through articles in _[_Information Outlook_|http://www.sla.org/io/]_, [blog posts|http://sla-divisions.typepad.com/sla_in_second_life/], and other communications channels. We'll provide information on library and related activities in SL, and give members the information they need to explore the virtual world with confidence.

 * Provide training opportunities. Training will be provided in a variety of formats, possibly including Click U (webinars), live sessions, and in-world events.

 * Create an [SLA presence in SL|http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cybrary%20City%20II/59/100/22], so that SLA members have a place to go that is familiar in content.
