Moira Fraser has been the Parliamentary Librarian in the Parliament of New Zealand since January 2000. In 2004 the responsibilities of Group Manager, Information and Knowledge were added to those of Parliamentary Librarian. Moira leads a team of 70 staff in delivering research and information services to the members of Parliament and their staff.
She is the business owner for Parliament's website and intranet and also the document management system. After many years of not being called a "librarian", Moira enjoys having Librarian back in her job title, serving a demanding and challenging group of clients with cutting edge research and information services from a heritage Library building.
Prior to working at Parliament, Moira was National Director of Knowledge for Ernst & Young in New Zealand. She has led library and information service provision in private and public special libraries across a range of subject areas including telecommunications, housing, Maori, and geology.
Moira is an active member of the international community of parliamentary librarians and has served in a variety of positions in the regional and international forums. She is near to the end of her term as the Immediate Past President of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa. She will continue to contribute to LIANZA's agenda through her LIANZA working groups including Income Strategy, the Remuneration Survey Committee and an emerging initiative on pay and employment equity issues.
Moira is an avid traveler, and is accused of being obsessive about exercise by her children. |
