Recently I posted the following message to the Asian Chapter members Dear Asian Chapter members,
One of the key challenge we as librarians and information professionals are facing is getting our management and general public to understand our value and the importance of information services to their success.SLA has made various efforts to help us market & prove our value to our employers but that has met with limited success at best. Now to address this challenge, SLA is working with a team of research and communication professionals led by international firm, Flieishman-Hillard, and supported by futurists, Andy Hines of social technologies and information analytic firm Outsell Inc. to redefine the role of our profession and association. The focus of SLA is to bring clarity on core values of profession and the association through this alignment project.
The alignment project will not only help refine our current positioning in the market place, but will also provide a framework for discussing the inherent value in the profession and the association in a clear, compelling & cohesive voice.
Share your stories and examples on discussion list.
