Wiki! True it's a buzzword but it's also a powerful platform that enables many people to contribute information and ideas. Think of it as a form of knowledge management. Most everybody uses Wikipedia in some form, and its greatest strength comes in the number of contributors. Hopefully Thing 6 will help demystify wikis and make you feel comfortable using and contributing to them.

For some more background information on how wikis work, check out these resources:

Some examples of libraries using wikis can be found at Delicious

Thing 6 is to get your hands dirty with a wiki. Which wiki? The SLA Transportation Division Wiki!

  1. Go to the Transportation Resources Wiki and post something! Anything. Add or edit a page. You will not only share information and ideas with the community, but practice posting things as well!
  2. Blog about or comment about your experience! How was it? Did you learn anything

But don't stop there! Why not try contributing to Wikipedia or maybe implement a wiki in your library?
