Additional Information

Rational

The Roundtable has an umbrella theme of "How Technology Has (and Has Not) Changed Our Profession," with each Star/Fellow pair addressing a related subtopic. The "Not" is important, because it provides the opportunity for contrapuntal themes to be woven through some topics. For example, you may believe technology has changed the way certain outcomes are accomplished or delivered, but not the basic tenets. "Giving back" was one such example we discussed, but don't hesitate to use others if you feel they're relevant.

Next Steps

2 weeks or so of offline preparation between each pair. Pairs will agree on what to say about each topic and how to present their points. Many styles of presentation will be acceptable - e.g., point-by-point "call and response"; one person saying all of what she or he has to say, then the other; Q & A - variety makes the panel more lively! If, as pairs work on presentations, they feel the topic title needs to be tweaked, that's OK, too. Each pair now owns the topic.

Later in May, Webb will schedule 30-minute calls with each pair to review presentations. Notes will be taken and posted to the wiki so everyone knows how others are approaching their topics. That should help everyone avoid repetition and leverage what others are planning to say. After that, one more group call will be held to go over logistics and any remaining questions...then...showtime!
