CHAIR-ELECT

Nerida Hart

Program Manager, Knowledge for Regional Natural Resource Management, Land & Water Australia

Nerida is currently the Program Manager for the Knowledge for Regional NRM Program at Land & Water Australia (www.lwa.gov.au/regionalknowledge). This Program is a Natural Heritage Trust funded program which has the overarching objective to facilitate better linkages between regional Natural Resource Managament (NRM) bodies and knowledge providers, and to assist regional NRM bodies to better manage their knowledge. Nerida has a strong commitment to knowledge management and people development and is currently the Deputy Convenor of ACTKM and has just retired as the Convenor of the Australian Government Libraries Information Network (AGLIN) Task Force for Learning and Development and as Convenor of the Australian Public Sector Knowledge Management Community of Practice. In 2005 Nerida was awarded the Special Libraries Association ANZ Information Professional of the Year.

Nerida has worked in the library, information and knowledge industry since 1974 and has experience in public, academic and special libraries and was at the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA - previously the Department of Social Security) from 1991 to 2006. During this time she was responsible for the management of Knowledge and Information Services serving four client agencies: FaCSIA, Centrelink, the Child Support Agency and the Social Security Appeals Tribunal. It was the only shared service library in government in Australia and served approximately 40,000 clients nationally. The Knowledge & Information Services team won several Knowledge Management awards during this time. In 2003, they won the actKM Gold award for cultural KM initiatives and in 2005 they won the act KM Gold technical KM award.

Kari Anderson

Kari is Client Services Manager at the Library Associates Companies Rockville MD corporate office.Kari is responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and providing corporate oversight for individual projects. She has over 25 years of experience as a professional librarian and manager of information services and library operations, in academic, corporate/private sector, government, and special libraries and library consortia.Kari has been a member of the Special Libraries Association for almost 20 years and of ALA, ACRL and the Virginia Library Association for nearly 10 years. She has served on a number of standing and ad-hoc committees, most recently the 2007 DC/SLA Scholarship committee, and has presented several times at the SLA annual conference. After a break following a six-year stint, Kari is again serving as secretary on the Board of Directors of her co-op. She received the MLS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her BA from Beloit College.

DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS

Karen Huffman

Karen Huffman is Manager of Knowledge Initiatives for National Geographic's Libraries & Information Services. She is Webmaster, application developer, and Web 2.0 integrator for the National Geographic's Corporate Intranet which was selected as one of the top 10 intranets by Nielsen Norman Group for 2007. She has worked 22 years at National Geographic, 9 of which have been in the Libraries. She has an MLS from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Behavioral Social Sciences/Management from Maryland's University College. Please see my vitae for more information.


DIRECTOR, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Douglas J. Joubert, MLIS


Doug is Biomedical Informationist for the National Institutes of Health Library in Bethesda, MD.In his role as Biomedical Informationist, Douglas supports the promotion and the integration of biotechnology and bioinformatics resources into the workflow of NIH researchers. Additionally he uses qualitative and quantitative assessment tools to assess the effectiveness of information services provided by the library. Lastly, through collaboration with NIH researchers, he functions as a vital member of the research and clinical care teams that support biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health.Douglas received his Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biotechnology from the University of Maryland, University College. He is a member of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Special Libraries Association. His major areas of research interest are informatics and qualitative and quantitative assessment of information services.

DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC PLANNING

Cathy Roberson

Cathy is an Information Analyst for UPS Supply Chain Solutions.She provides a variety of research and analysis support to UPS teams around the world. Other duties include the compilation of a knowledge management strategy document for UPS; Implementation and the training of teams on various knowledge management tools.Her previous professional experience includes the position as research manager for an internet consulting company and ten years experience in public libraries. SLA member since 2005, she is also a member of the Competitive Intelligence Division.Cathy received her MLS from the University of South Carolina and her MBA from Mercer University. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, genealogy and knitting. She lives in Roswell GA with her husband, son and cat.
