Research Associate
Position: Information/E-Content Manager

Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks for immediate consideration candidates for the position of Information / E-Content Manager for a position in the greater DC metro area. The Information / E-Content Manager will assist with implementing usability and access to digital resources and with developing marketing-communication tools. The position is full time for six months. Must be a US Citizen in order to be considered.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform content analysis and mapping to determine navigation and layout;
- Define workflows, content authoring and review policies;
- Create new graphics and visual designs within existing guidelines;
- Implement RSS feeds and similar notification features;
- Assist with usability testing and translating results into design and organization updates;
- Identify, recommend, and implement new modes and techniques of communication to promote awareness of new services;
- Create marketing and communication awareness products.
Minimum Experience Required - Adobe Illustrator
- Photoshop, InDesign, or Visio
- Experience with web content-creation tools such as Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver CS3, XHTML/CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript 3.0, CGI
- Experience with information architecture, user task analysis, interface design;
- Experience with digital information repositories and with metadata;
- Some knowledge of PHP, MySQL or Perl
- Knowledge of image capture and delivery techniques.

Working in a collaborative environment, Associates complete research projects and other assignments under the direct or indirect supervision of Partners and/or Principals, conduct market research and participate in member interviews to surface issues worthy of the network members' consideration. Primary Responsibilities:
Analysis:
- Using various tools and resources, conduct research on individuals and companies, business and/or environmental issues, government regulations, market issues, corporate competition, etc.
- Synthesize research and identify relevant issues, themes, sources, etc.
Content development:
- Support content development through research, analysis, synthesis, writing and editing
- Present research findings to Partners and Principals in a clear and concise manner
- Assist Partners and Principals with preparation and development of client materials and presentations
- Prepare background materials on public and private companies and individuals
- Develop outlines and prepare reports
- Take notes during conference calls, interviews and meetings and summarize key points and statements
Client relations:
- Assist Partners and Principals in a manner that maintains Client in premier standing in the eyes of its clients
- Develop content and relationship knowledge to support member/client interaction
- Participate in status meetings, both internally and with clients
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree required, master's degree preferred, in business or other relevant field
- Two-to-five years experience in professional services or other relevant environments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, highly professional presence, articulate and prepared with all pertinent information
- Strong analytical thinking and superior organizational skills
- Familiarity with research methodologies, use of databases etc.
- Skilled in presenting research in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Position: On-Call News Researcher

Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks experienced candidates for an On-call News Researcher position in New York (Manhattan), NY. The On-call News Researcher will work on an as-needed basis. This is a regular, on-going position that will augment an established team of professional researchers and information managers. Hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and when urgent assignments and breaking news situations demand.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, concise, and timely responses to inquiries on a wide range of topics related to international and domestic news stories including politics; government; legislation; business and finance; health; popular culture; and other areas.
- Conduct in-depth research across news aggregators, public records databases and other specialized resources.
- Compile and organize information into coherent, focused responses, with annotations as necessary, for the end-user/requestor.
- Maintain an awareness of and interest in domestic and international current events.
- Demonstrate good judgment and insight in identifying and utilizing authoritative sources for news research.
Qualifications
- Extremely strong secondary research skills across a wide variety of resources including Factiva, LexisNexis, Accurint, public records databases, and government documents collections.
- Comfortable multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with people at all levels of an organization, including senior management.
- Self-starter, able to work quickly and independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Minimum of five years of professional-level secondary research experience in at least one area of the following: news, law, public records, business.
- Master of Library & Information Science degree is strongly preferred. A Bachelor's degree and seven years of closely-related work experience may be substituted for the degree.

- General familiarity with healthcare environment, including healthcare-specific terminology, policy issues, and key stakeholders
