Christina de Castell
Christina is the manager of InfoAction, the fee-based research division of Vancouver Public Library. She specializes in due diligence background checks for securities and law firms, as well as market research and technology subjects. She occasionally consults for new media companies, providing market research and information architecture services.
Prior to joining InfoAction, Christina worked at the BC Securities Commission for five years, where she conducted background research for investigations, litigation and policy development, and designed web-based information and educational materials for the securities industry. During her MLIS, she worked as a knowledge management specialist at Blast Radius, a web development firm, and at UBC's Koerner Library.
Christina teaches a module on using commercial databases for Internet for Investigations, a course in BCIT's Forensic Investigations degree program. She is a regular speaker at UBC's School of Library and Information Studies and at library association events.
She is currently Director/PR Chair for the Business & Finance Division and editor of the Leadership & Management Division blog, Impact. She was a member of the 2007/08 SLA Nominating Committee, and is on the Conference Planning Committee for Seattle. In 2005-2006, Christina was President of Western Canada Chapter, and was previously Communications Director and Discussion List Chair.
Christina received her MLIS from UBC in 2001, and her BA (English) from UBC in 1996. She completed the Canadian Securities Course in 2002, and attended the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute in 2005.
