Mission

The Retired Members Caucus aspires to engage SLA members who are thinking about retirement, in the midst of retirement, or who have retired to share knowledge to guide each other and continue providing leadership to SLA.

Goals

*2012:
-Plan for possible spotlight meeting for June 2012, with Museum and other interested divisions mentoring options with Young Professionals, DCSLA, FLICC, and others
-Explore clearinghouse potential for mentoring
-Double membership with recruitment effort

*2011:
-Engage a steering committee to handle programming, membership, finance, news, and succession
-Use Survey Monkey to ask membership to vote to update caucus name from KRET to ENCORE
-Develop an agenda for the business meeting for June 2011 to determine goals and aspirations for 2012
-Update listserv to encore@lists.sla.org
-Organize June 2011 meeting (business meeting) and Stephen Abram show; co-host with the Education division a program
-Double membership with recruitment effort (56 to 97)
-Develop a WordPress website, Encore.SLA.org, Linked-in, FaceBook presence, working with John DiGilio
-Create voice over slides for the SLA Conference about Encore

2010:
-Articulate a mission
-Set goals
-Create a wiki, which includes a mindmap, a blog of tips and experiences, an outline of keys areas for knowledge sharing
-Propagate the wiki with content. So far the wiki has not been a simple enough vehicle to encourage much collaboration.
-Identify those who might want to participate and lead the refreshment of the caucus
-Create a logo and "face" or identity for this group or movement.
-Secure a list of retired SLA members; Caucus members, DCSLA retirees, anticipating further member engagement.
-Report progress to the SLA Board and Chapters and meet at conference in New Orleans to evolve the project.
-Focus the mission after Board Review and explore roles the Encore Group might have with the Association going forward.
-Engage Stephen Abrams to speak at business meeting in June 2011.
-Contribute to other program planning with other divisions or chapters.
