Chapter Awards

Billie Connor Award: The Billie Connor Award was established to honor Billie Connor, a long time member of the Chapter and two-time president.  Billie was the principal librarian at the Los Angeles Public Library in charge of the Business/Economics and Science/Technology/Patents departments.  This award honors a Chapter member who has gone beyond the normal in support of the Chapter over a lengthy period of time.

Meritorious Service Award: The Meritorious Service Awards can be given for successful completion of a short-term project that has benefited the Chapter or to a person who has given exceptional service to the Chapter over a short period of time (2-3 years).

Scholarships

The chapter annually awards its Karen Sternheim Memorial Scholarship of $3,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in an accredited LIS program.

In 2008, SLA Southern California awarded the scholarship to a student from the San Jose State University / Fullerton LIS program.
