During our Spring Board Meeting in March, we invited The University of Tennessee, Knoxville SLA students to join us for lunch. After our regular meeting, we invited the group to join us for a lunch and learn, so as to discuss our initiatives and programs for the year. We had a great discussion on how we could interact more with eachother and encourage membership and networking. Many students were looking for job contacts and employment references, and all had an opportunity to share our library experiences and job histories.
Our SLA members in Knoxville are enlisted in the SLA-UTK listserv for announcements and happenings, and we always invite student chapter members to our networking dinners that we host a few times a year.
