In October of 2007 the Pittsburgh Chapter celebrated "85 years of Serving Pittsburgh's Special Information Needs."  The event was held at the Posner Center on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University, and hosted SLA 2006-07 President Rebecca Vargha.  A commemorative booklet was created including Highlights of the Chapter's History, a list of awards and honors dating back to 1955, and a list of all of the past Chapter presidents (from 1922 to present).  Sponsorship for the event was provided by CAS, Westlaw, Ebsco and Knovel. 

In 2008 the board agreed to put $100 a year into savings for the Chapter's 100th anniversary event.  The goal is to have a budget of $1500 ready to work with prior to soliciting any vendor support for that event.
