Student Reception and Tour with SLA-President Elect Gloria Zamora - May 22, 2008

During her visit to Minnesota, the Chapter invited students from the College of St. Catherine MLIS program to attend a pre-event tour of the Betty Crocker Cookbook Library at General Mills, Inc. headquarters.  Afterwards 10-12 students had an opportunity to gather and chat with Gloria before her presentation.

Ongoing relationship with the College of St. Catherine MLIS Program: The Minnesota Chapter has a long history of reaching out to library students at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul MN including the CSC-SLA Student Group.  The CSC-SLA student group leaders serve on the Chapter Board and the Chapter supports their efforts to raise funds to send a student to the SLA Annual Conference by making an  annual contribution of $500.  The Chapter also works directly to raise funds for the Aspnes Scholarship benefiting a MLIS student in their studies at the College of St. Catherine.  We're currently looking into having our Mentoring Chairs work directly with the CSC-SLA Student Group Leadership to help foster direct support for student mentoring and student group activities.
