In 2008 our Sponsorship / Fundraising Chair worked with the VP, President and President-Elect to update our Sponsorship brochure with a list of top programs planned for the year for which we hoped to gain support. The brochure also outlines sponsorship levels with different benefits to each. As a result of this early planning we are already way ahead of our sponsorship goals for the year.
To help raise money for our scholarships and stipends we're discussing holding an dessert or wine tasting event where all the proceeds will go to the fund these. Attendees can also pay extra for a plate or glass to "taste" as many times as they wish. Our VP / Program Planner has also reached out to the membership to find free event locations. Our recent event with Gloria Zamora was hosted at General Mills Inc. headquarters - they also covered a large part of the catering.
In 2007 we held a Librarian's Luau in the spacious backyard of one of our members to help raise funds for scholarships. Refreshments were served and donated door prizes were awarded. Attendees were encouraged to wear Hawaiian clothes and donate what they were able to for the scholarships.
