While we await the Association's new Strategic Plan (SP), the folks in the Boston Chapter (well, okay, I) have a few questions: a) How and to what extent will the Association expect Chapter- and Division-level SPs to dovetail with the Association's plan? b) How much of the Chapter- and Division-level plan will be unique based on geography? (i.e. accounting for such factors as mix of industry, unique economic circumstances, job availability, concentration of members etc.) c) What exactly IS the role of the Chapters/Divisions from the perspective of the Association, especially given the growing concentration of tools and resources being made available at Association-level (not a bad thing, by the way)?
Your thoughts, guesses, educated opinions are most welcome. Alan Thibeault
Alex -- good for you to continue the conversation. I think the Association is trying to model how chapters and divisions can start to help their members work in collaborative spaces. This Chapter Wiki (23 Things is another) is an example and and entry point for the chapter leadership. These new tools provide new opportunities for us to interact with each other and to build SLA membership -- as we are better able to communicate all the many benefits of membership -- learning being a premier one. Best, Susan
