Welcome to the SLA Chapter Idea Bank.

All chapter leaders are invited to add brief descriptions of chapter activities and best practices.  This could include unusual program events, ideas for promoting chapter membership, connection with library schools in the region, awards and recognition or any other ideas. The goal is to share our most creative ideas as a resource for all.

Guidelines for Getting Started

An initial set of categories has been established, so if your item fits one of these categories, please add it there.  Some chapters already have their own "Child Page" under various categories.  If there is already a page for your chapter under a category, you can edit the existing page to add new content.   To edit an existing page, click "Page Operations" on the column at the left, then click "edit". Please be aware that items entered as "Comments" can not be edited by others.

If there is not yet a page for your chapter under a category, you can add your page by going to the category page, clicking "Add Child Page" and entering your text into the new page.  Please label new pages with the name of your chapter plus the category (e.g., Awards and recognition - San Andreas Chapter).

To create a new category page, please click Add Child Page" on this Home Page, and create the category page, then add a Child page for your chapter to that page.

Blog us: How can we help?

While we await the Association's new Strategic Plan (SP), the folks in the Boston Chapter (well, okay, I) have a few questions: a) How and to what extent will the Association expect Chapter- and Division-level SPs to dovetail with the Association's plan? b) How much of the Chapter- and Division-level plan will be unique based on geography? (i.e. accounting for such factors as mix of industry, unique economic circumstances, job availability, concentration of members etc.) c) What exactly IS the role of the Chapters/Divisions from the perspective of the Association, especially given the growing concentration of tools and resources being made available at Association-level (not a bad thing, by the way)?

Your thoughts, guesses, educated opinions are most welcome.  Alan Thibeault

Here is a place we can share chapter news that might have application across all or some of the chapters and also a way to get ideas shared, questions answered from each other.  So let's see what happens.
