Last January when I came on the SLA Board, our president Stephen Abrams, asked me what I wanted to do as a Director. I told him I wanted to bring our members up to speed to become the information go-to gurus in their organizations for Web 2.0 tools. We brainstormed and came up with Learn 2.0: 23 Things and it's wonderful to see our members get excited about it. It took a load of work with the 23 Things committee working very hard to bring this to SLA members. You are experiencing the results of that hard work and together we are all reaping the benefits of becoming Web 2.0 savvy. I hope you will continue to do 23 Things, and when you get stuck, post a comment on the page where you have a question or dilemma. The 23 Things Committee is monitoring these comments and will do our best to answer them. And we hope that all SLA members will post answers, comments, cool new tools they find and more. Let's make this summer very productive as we make this journey together.

First, let me take this opportunity to thank you all for all of your hard work into getting this wonderul 2.0 experience up and running for the SLA membership.
Second, thank you for forcing me (okay, "enticing me" may be a better phrase) to actually explore these technologies by making the whole experience easy and fun. The pitch for spending "15-muntes a day" really made this sound doable and allowed me to face my reluctance by committing to this minimal amount of time for learning. (Note: while I may have started with 15 minutes per day, this activity has become somewhat addictive and I'm finding that I'm spending my entire lunch hour each day on this stuff. Not necessarily a bad thing.)
Third, have I said "thank you" yet? Keep up the good work!

I've tagged my blog in del.icio.us, but it is not regularly showing up on this list. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. Have I done something wrong? Just curious. Not that big a deal.

But it does kind of defeat the purpose of having it there for a list of participants' blogs. :-\ I suppose I should put all the ones that show up (and are actually participants' blogs) into my reader and try to catch the others later.

Even though the blog became public, seemed as though it still sometimes reverted back to a private blog.
Another option that might work is to add your blog to Technorati and then tag your blog in Technorati with sla23things tag (see http://technorati.com/blogs/tag/sla23things). I can now, for example, follow/scan Tom's blog easily in my "posts from favorites" tab.

I'm enjoying 23 Things a lot. I tend to work on it from home since many of the sites (YouTube, for example) are not accessible from our work location due to "Surf Control" restrictions. At a meeting yesterday I used the term "vodcast" and two out of three of the IT folks in the meeting had not heard the term before. I actually don't think I learned that in 23 Things - but I could have - but still, a nice example of the value of this initiative in keeping us current.
